Thessaly. Pharsalos, late 5th-mid 4th century BC. AR Drachm (5.89g).
Cf. Lavva 144; BCD 645.
Obverse: Helmeted head of Athena right, sphinx decoration on bowl; behind neckguard, small tau and theta (artist's marks). Reverse: Thessalian horseman right, wielding goad and wearing petasos. Extremely fine style and detail; greatly superior to typical specimens.
