SUDEK, JOSEF (1896-1976) [From the Series 'In the Magic Garden'],
1950s. Gelatin silver contact print, 10 x 8 inches (254 x 205 mm), flush mounted, the card backing with "The Garden 1976" backstamp (debossed as issued, the mount only, stamped before dry-mounting), but otherwise unsigned. A few tiny original retouchings noted, but indeed a magical image.

Prints from Sudek's garden series are often discreetly signed in stylus on the plateholder portion of the image, but in the case of this print, issued the year of Sudek's death and probably printed just before he died, this was no longer possible by the time of issue.
