Additional Notes & Condition Report

The plaque was examined out of its frame; the plaque appears to be in generally good, undamaged condition, including the corners; there appears to be some sort of a film and cloudiness to the front painted side of the plaque, that seems to shadow or silhouette parts of the clothing worn by the figure at the left but also to the wicker basket and all of the sky, perhaps an indication of some prior restoration or treatment to the front of the plaque; uncertain as to whether this will simply "clean away" or not; when the wood backing was removed to examine the back side of the plaque some cut pieces from an old German newspaper were tucked inside, one of which is dated " Sonntag, 3, Nov, 1889"

frame measurement: height 14 1/2 in. by 12 1/4 in.
