Additional Notes & Condition Report
Cover: evidence of professional restoration, including overpaint, notably at the top area near the join area of the metal mount; some of the gilding has been enhanced with gold overpaint, notably around the bottom rim
Body: appears to be in generally good, undamaged condition; the urn has a slight rocking motion when it is gently nudged, apparently due to the unevenness of one of the paw feet; should be an easy enough matter to resolve, i.e., felt or cork pad, etc.; typical wear and dulling to gilding, commensurate with age; metal mounts were not removed for a thorough examination of the porcelain cover or body; there is a gilt-metal inner liner, approximately 4 inches deep; the Sèvres style mark appears on both the underside of the cover and the underside of the foot (overglaze); not blacklighted
Any condition statement is given as a courtesy to a client, is an opinion and should not be treated as a statement of fact and Doyle New York shall have no responsibility for any error or omission. Please contact the specialist department to request further information or additional images that may be available.
