August Holmström for Fabergé Antique Silver, Gold, Pink Sapphire and Diamond Brooch
The circular wire pendant centering one round pink sapphire ap. 7.30 cts., within a square frame of 16 cushion-shaped and old European-cut diamonds ap. 1.85 cts., within scrolled filigree wirework, further encircled by 24 old-mine and single-cut diamonds ap. .65 ct., with diamond-set pendant loop, with maker's mark for August Holmström, St. Petersburg, with Russian assay mark and French import mark, inventory nos. 98275 and 92667, circa 1890.
Workmaster August Holmström was an active producer for Fabergé between the years of 1857 and 1903. His son, Albert, daughter, Hilma, and grandaughter, Alma, continued his legacy as Fabergé designers and workmasters. Alma Holmström designed the notable Winter and Mosaic Easter Eggs for Fabergé.
