The Battle of Olustee, fought on February 20th, 1864, was the largest battle fought in Florida during the Civil War. The Confederate force under General Joseph Finegan decisively defeated the Union army commanded by General Truman Seymour, and insured the Confederates' control of Florida's interior for the balance of the war.
