London: John Miller, 1819. First edition but an imperfect copy, (see collation). Modern green cloth with a black lettering label in gilt, endpapers renewed. 9 x 5 1/4 inches (23 x 13 cm); [iii]-ix, [7], 320 (of 328), retains half-title, errata and blanks (in this copy, the preliminaries are misbound and the main text, pages 1-312, is complete, but the notes section, pages 313-328 lack the last eight pages). An untrimmed copy, toned and spotted and with the occasional stain, incomplete as noted and sold with all faults.

A scarce work "Almost entirely devoted to events in Florida during its last days under Spain, including the best narration of Captain McGregor's filibustering seizure of Amelia Island, account of Seminole Indians, etc." (Howes). Field 1119; Howes N12; Sabin 51782; Streeter sale 1201
