[FLORIDA] SEWALL, R. K. Sketches of St. Augustine. With a View of its History and Advantages as a Resort for Invalids.
New York: George P. Putnam, 1848. First edition. Publisher's brown patterned cloth, decoratively blindstamped boards, gilt title to front board. 7 1/4 x 4 5/8 inches (18.5 x 11.75 cm); 69, [1] pp., with lithographed frontispiece and five plates, 12 pp. of publisher's ads. Together with another copy of the same, first edition, but with pp. 39-40 cancelled. Light edgewear mostly at spine ends and corners, some staining to cloth, faint crack along front joint of one of the volumes, toning to endpapers, occasional pale spotting, altogether two rather well-preserved examples.
Two copies of Sewall's Sketches of St. Augustine, one of which retains the rarely found Anti-Minorcan cancelled leaf. Howes S304, Sabin 79439.
