Publisher's dark green bubble patterned cloth, decoratively gilt and blindstamed, spine titled in gilt, all edges gilt, watered silk endpapers. 9 1/4 x 5 7/8 inches (23.5 x 15 cm); [4], iv, 360 pp., plates, folding map. Rubbing and wear mostly to edges, corners and spine, rear hinge cracked, flyleaves toned, the occasional pale spot.

An illustrated French edition of the Hayes' North Pole Expedition, where the explorer and his crew reached Greenland before having to turn back due to difficult terrain, harsh climate and dwindling food supplies.
