[CURCAO] MUDGE, ZACHARY. Two signed letters regarding the capture of French ships off Curacao, 1804.
Two secretarially prepared manuscript letters signed "Zachary Mudge," both to Sir Thomas Duckworth, written on board H.M.S. Blanche off Curacao, June and October 1804. Both about 13 x 9 inches (33 x 22 cm). Both with some measure of marginal toning or spots.

Two letters from Captain Mudge upon capturing French vessels off Curacao in 1804. In the June letter, Mudge, "After a chase of five hours," captured "La Marie, French schooner ... two years old and sails remarkably fast ... I have employed her as well as the Nimrod to assist in the Blockade." In the October letter, Mudge has "captured the La Gracieuse ... equipped for fourteen guns and had on board fifty five Men from [Santiago] de Cuba to St. Domingo with troops and dispatches which I was fortunate enough to save." The lot 2 items.
