Philadelphia, G. B. Zieber, 1844. First edition. Contemporary half calf with mabled paper boards, black leather spine label lettered in gilt. 8 3/4 x 5 3/8 inches (22.5 x 13.75 cm); [4], 55, [1], 82 pp., folded plate, woodcut battle scene illustration, two folded charts showing naval positions during The Battle of Lake Erie. Rubbing and wear, front joint starting, hinges cracked but sound, contents with scattered foxing throughout, bookplate and markings from Washington Cathedral Library.
Elliot's speech contains information on his service in the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812, as well as other accounts from his long and oftentimes controversial carreer.
