Andy Warhol Twice Signed Auction Catalogue.
New York: Saturday, 28 April 1979. A Christie's New York 19th and 20th Century Prints auction catalogue, signed twice in full "Andy Warhol" on facing pages underneath the reproduced images of his prints Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup and Electric Chairs. Original wrappers. 10 x 8 inches (26 x 20 cm). Light wear to wrappers, one small pen mark near one signature.
In April 1979, the consignor of this item heard Andy Warhol was signing copies of Interview at Fiorucci and went after attending an auction (see the catalogue elsewhere in this sale). Upon meeting Warhol, he noticed the auction catalogue and inquired if any of his artwork was included. The client showed Warhol the two pages with the images of his soup can and electric chair prints, and Warhol signed them, acknowledging his work and creating new art.
