Woolwork Picture of a British Sailing Vessel
England, second half 19th century
The central reserve depicting the vessel surrounded by flags and surmounted by a crown, all bordered on three sides by gathered curtains and a white rose at lower center, in a molded oak frame. Sight 19 x 25 inches.
Provenance:
According to a note affixed to the reverse, this woolwork picture was given as a gift from the Duveen family to Frederick Greenfield, in appreciation for a 1937 outing on the "Good Ship Helbert."
