Classical Mahogany Secretary Bookcase
School of Duncan Phyfe, New York, circa 1820
The flat cornice above gilt-bronze mounted pilasters flanking glazed doors opening to three adjustable shelves set on shallow center section with three drawers, the right most with fitted interior, all on lower section with fold-down writing surface above five drawers, side mounted pull-out slides, on arched center and raised on turned tapering octagonal legs ending in brass caps. Height 86 1/2 inches, width cornice 51 1/2 inches, width lower case 45 inches, depth 23 1/2 inches.
