Classical Rosewood Grained and Gilt Stencil Decorated Fold-Over Card Table
Attributed to John and Hugh Finlay, Baltimore, MD, circa 1815
The rectangular top rotates above a well on conforming apron centering an anthemion issuing cornucopias and scrolls on a vase and ring turned post with acanthus decoration, above decorated shaped brackets joining cross base with banding and pinstriping, all on four turned feet ending in casters. Height 29 inches, width 36 1/4 inches, depth 17 7/8 inches.

evidence of inpainting to rosewood grained surface and refreshing to gilding; minor staining and an oval gouge 1/2 inch x 1/2 inch to top; discoloration and accumulations in spots alongside left edges of top, only visible when open. there are tack holes on the base, which might have been for old brass rosettes; minor repairs to feet; small loss to top; edgewear
