[MAP - POLAR] DELISLE, GUILLAUME; corrected and revised by PHILIPPE BAUCHE. Hemisphere Septentrionale pour voir plus distinctment les Terres Arctiques.
Paris: Chez l'Auteur, 1770. Engraved map, hand colored in outline, central fold, linen backed (possibly for inclusion in a sea atlas), framed. Sheet measures, 19 3/4 x 23 7/8 inches (50.25 x 60.5 cm). Dampstaining, a bit of faint toning and spotting to recto and backing, overall a nice and dark impression.

An attractive copy of DeLisle's map of the Northern hemisphere, corrected and revised by his son-in-law and successor Philippe Bauche. While this map correctly shows California as a peninsula, it retains a number of other cartographic misconceptions, such as the Mer de l'Ouest, lakes Velasco and Fonte, Presqu' Isle du Nord-Ouest, and a Northwest Passage.
