... Paris: Hubert Jaillot, 1685. An early issue with California as an island (later issues show it joined). Two conjoined sheets. 21 1/2 x 34 1/2 inches (55 x 88 cm) between neatlines, with the title at the head; attractive, probably later color. A tiny stain at upper right. Framed, not examined out of framee.

In this issue, California is fully an island, with several offshore islands. Burden notes this as the second state of this map, see Burden 438 (p. 50 for the list of states).
