DICKENS, CHARLES Bleak House.
London: Bradbury and Evans, 1853. First edition, in the original monthly parts, twenty numbers bound in nineteen. Original green printed wrappers, housed in a quarter blue morocco clamshell case over blue marbled boards. 8 3/4 x 5 1/2 inches (22 x 14 cm); [i-vii]. viii-x[xi]xii-xiv[×v]xvi, [1]2-624. With forty inserted plates by "Phiz," (Hablot K.Browne) including frontispiece and vignette title Wrappers somewhat soiled and worn, with some tape or paper repairs and a few ink signatures. Many numbers are rebacked. Plates tend to be dampstained, with some offsetting or edge browning. Lacks only three back ads or slips over twenty numbers ("Aguilar" from Parts I and II and "Newcombes" from Part III), with all plates, wrappers, and other advertisements complete and correct, though sold as-is, not subject to return.
