It has been suggested that the terrier pictured at the right could be Cackler of Notts b. 1898 to Barkby Ben and Lady Tipton of Notts. Owner and breeder: Kathleen Pelham-Clinton, Duchess of Newcastle.

Visible stretcher marks; very faint scattered craquelure; 2 inch hairline scratch at center with corresponding two small spots of inpainting; small area of inpainting in beard of dog at right; several tiny spots of inpainting in the same dog; inpainting at top left edge from corner with few tiny spot in the sky; no further apparent restoration.
