[DAGUERREOTYPE-MUSICIANS] Three daguerreotypes of guitarists.
[Young woman playing guitar]. Boston: likely Southworth & Hawes,circa 1850. Quarter-plate, housed in a later frame. Seals apparently replaced, but very bright. With the Sotheby's auction label from the 1999 David Feigenbaum sale of Southworth & Hawes dags, part of their lot 68 (a group of 19 portraits of women); together with [Sensitive gentleman playing guitar]. American: circa 1850. Sixth-plate, housed in original leather union case. Very bright; and Young woman holding guitar. Ninth-plate, housed in original leather union case. Very bright.

Three exceptionally fine daguerreotypes of musicians, the first an especially charming and compelling image by the finest daguerreotypist of the age. These were probably amateurs, part of the 19th century vogue for the instrument.
