BRASSAÏ [HALASZ, GYULA] (1899-1984) Madame Bijou, Paris
1932, likely printed 1970s. Gelatin silver print, 14 15/16 x 11 5/8 inches (380 x 295 mm) on slightly larger sheet, signed recto in ink in margin (l.r.), P.L. and page numbers in pencil, verso signed in pencil, with Brassai's several copyright and "Tirage de l'Auteur" and "Photographie Originale" stamps. Several minor soft creases, overall an attractive example, unusual in this large format. Richard Avedon's copy, so stamped on the back mat. Framed.
Norma Stevens represented Richard Avedon for thirty years, and her husband Martin (d. 2016) was an art and creative director for Revlon and other agencies.
