George Jones Majolica Six-Piece 'Marie' Strawberry Server Set
Circa 1875
The oval stand modeled as a rustic plank trough molded in relief with flowering strawberry plants, with two blue tits eating strawberries, perched above on a trestle-form branch handle, removable demilune barrels for sugar and cream at each end, and three serving spoons for berries, cream and sifting sugar, impressed GJ monogram mark and registry diamond (9-S-G-2) for 9 February 1875, black painted shape no. 3423 and T. Width overall 14 inches.
