Josiah Wedgwood & Sons Majolica Argenta 'Sardinia' Boat-Form Sardine Box and Cover

In the form of a traditional Mediterranean fishing boat, the flat cover with anchor and rope finial, the decking strewn with fish among nets, the side of the olive-green striped vessel embossed SARDINIA, impressed uppercase mark and registry diamond (23-D-E-3) for 23 May 1878, parcel 3, and puce painted H6, length 9 3/4 inches; Together with a Josiah Wedgwood & Sons Majolica Argenta 'Ocean' Bread Tray. Date code YZI for 1883, oblong, the center molded with crisscross slates and two strands of seaweed within a wave border and twisted rope rim, impressed uppercase mark and Y, iron-red painted pattern no. M2905/, width 13 inches.
