Comprising a French Barbotine cicada-form example, circa 1890-1900,
naturalistically modeled with folded wings, impressed uppercase VALLAURIS, Les . Bruxe., length 6 inches; a Sarreguemines French Barbotine iridescent-green ground beetle-form example, circa 1890-1900, naturalistically modeled with folded wings, impressed uppercase SARREGUEMINES mark, model no. 4408, 530P and M, length overall 9 1/8 inches; a French Barbotine ladybug-form example, circa 1890-1920, signed with black painted XI, naturalistically modeled and enriched in gilt, length overall 6 1/4 inches; and a Jose A. Cunha Portuguese Palissy Ware fly example, circa 1890, naturalistically modeled at rest on a green slab, impressed oval uppercase mark, length 5 1/8 inches; Together with a Louis Sicard Barbotine Majolica Model of a Cicada On Branch. Circa 1920, modeled perched on a Y-shaped green olive branch, inscribed, Lou Souleù mi fa canta the sun makes me sing, signed in black L. Sicard, length 5 1/8 inches.

The inscription based on the words of the Provençal poet, Fréderic Mistral.

Louis Sicard Barbotine Majolica Model of a Cicada On Branch: chip to leaf, hairline to branch, glaze flake loss to both eyes;

Cicada with Turquoise Eyes: chip loss to rear tip end of one wing and a small nick to the other wing tip;

Fly: appears to be in generally good condition; a few small inconsequential nicks to the rim edges;

Long Green Beetle: appears to be in generally good condition; there are perhaps two small flake losses to the glaze

Red Beetle: appears to be in generally good, undamaged condition
