Minton Majolica Turquoise-Ground Renaissance Style Mermaid-Handled 'Askos' Wine Jug
Shape no. 1420, date cypher for 1868
After the Antique Pompeiian form, with upright ensnared nereid loop handle, the sides molded with putti holding ivy garlands suspended from a satyr mask below the spout, trimmed in yellow, the interior pink, impressed uppercase mark, cypher and shape number, and painted 1. Height 8 1/2 inches.
