This is the map volume only for Part II of Gibbon's Exploration of the Valley of the Amazon, Made Under Direction of the Navy Department, Washington: 1854. Original gilt lettered cloth. The volume 9 x 6 inches (23 x 14 cm); with two large folding maps (see note). Some minor marks in the margins, spotting to folds.

The maps comprise Map Drawn by Lieut. Lardner Gibbon, U.S. Navy to Accompany his Report. 1854. Opens to about 18 x 27 1/2 inches, this map centers on Bolivia. The second is Map of the Andes Drawn by Lieut. Lardner Gibbon, U.S. Navy to Accompany his Report. 1854. Opens to about 17 x 20 1/4 inches.
