[BENSON, FRANK] PAFF, ADAM E.M. Etchings and Drypoints by Frank W. Benson.
[Volumes one, three, four and five i.e. four of the five volumes of the catalogue raisonné of etchings. Boston and New York: Houghton Mifflin, 1917, 1923, 1929 and 1959. Various numbers, from editions of 275, 525, 600 and 400. Publisher's quarter linen over boards, with the dust jackets. 12 1/4 x 9 inches (31 x 23 cm); various paginations, each bound as issued with an original etching, the first three signed in pencil. Dust jacket of the third volume crudely repaired with brown tape, all with some wear, the books themselves generally in near fine condition.
The plates Include Pair of Ducks; Frontispiece for volume three of the catalogue [On Set Wings], with a second copy laid-in; Flying Pintail; Perching Grouse (unsigned). Paff 192; 223; 275; 347. A copy of Startled Ducks, 1930, signed in pencil, is laid into the final volume, likely extracted from Contemporary American Etching, where it was the frontispiece. Four volumes with six etchings in all, five signed.
