Vietnamese or Thai Sawankhalok Brown-Decorated Kendi
14th Century
Of standard, depressed form with large, bulbous spout, the wine vessel is well-engraved with quatrefoil panels of phoenix against a ground and upper band of scrolling foliage, all highlighted in brown. The spout is similarly glazed and decorated with foliate lappets. Length 7 7/8 inches (19.1 cm).
