Seven Traveling Shrines and a Polychrome Wood Horyuji Apsara
18th and 19th Centuries and Meiji Period
Comprising a large painted Kasuga Shika Mandara; large shrine with Aizen Myo-O in Glory; four small shrines of Jizo Bosatsu, Daikoku, Buddha, Shakyamuni flanked by Myo-O, dated Ansei 2 (1855); small shrine of a Shingon patriarch. Kneeling figure of an apsara holding a spindle and kneeling on an open lotus. Heights 20, 16 1/4, 7 1/4, 5 5/8, 3 3/4, 3 5/8, 14 3/4, 5 1/2 inches (50.9, 41.2, 14.3, 9.5, 9.2, 37.4, 14 cm).
