Constructed in multiple sections, the serene figure is seated in dhyanasana on a single lotus, wearing monastic garb and with his hands completely covered under the folds. The face is framed by hair caught up in wide bands surmounted by a similarly-banded topknot; both layers of the coif terminate in a spiral of hair at the front. Except for the hair, the figure and lotus are covered with gold lacquer, the majority of which is complete. Height 14 inches (35.5 cm).

Additional Notes & Condition Report

Condition: The join which crosses the lower belly has opened very slightly and the gold lacquer has opened slightly and peeled. The lacquer is basically complete, but darkened in many areas and worn away in others.
