This double-sided drawing, which Dortu dates to 1879-1881, appears to have been a leaf from one of the artist's sketchbooks in which he worked during the years before he moved to Paris in 1882. A group of these sketchbooks were later bequeathed by the artist's family to the Mus'e Toulouse-Lautrec in Albi.
