Minor soiling. The strip of black cloth behind the sliced opening is only adhered to the canvas on one side of the opening, and has come loose on the opposing side. The nails used by the artist to fix the canvas to the stretchers have oxidized and rust stains are showing through the white pigment. These nails are along the sides of the stretchers and the canvas is flush with the back edge of the stretchers.
