Deep Green Alligator Necessaire de Voyage
With the majority of the original fittings, circa 1910
Pewter-tone metal lock and key, the locks numbered 171, the exterior and several of the interior items including a folding desk blotter, two small boxes, sewing case, card case and a manicure set of alligator, the small pieces with sterling silver fittings, the majority of the silver items engraved with a facsimile signature Ethel, hallmarks for Snyder & Beddoes, Birmingham, circa 1910-1911, canvas protective case with velvet interior.
It is assumed that this set was given as a wedding present to Ethel Gill when she married James Croall. Two newspaper clippings, mentioning the wedding, one from The Scotsman of Edinburgh, along with the calling card of the officiating minister are contained in the blotter.
