Canvas is stretched on F.P. Pfleger stretchers bearing patent date Feb. 2, 1886. The back of the frame has been protected by brown paper and a thick layer of pressed paper; as a result, the stretchers and back of the canvas do not appear oxidized. Front of painting glazed. Some pigments fluoresce under UV examination. Slight buckle in area of sky where impasto is heaviest.
