George III Mahogany Bookcase
Late 18th century
In two parts, the upper rectangular section with molded dentil work cornice above a conforming case enclosing a pair of glazed and mullioned doors opening to reveal shelves, over a pair of paneled cupboard doors, raised on bracket feet. Height 7 feet 4 inches (22.3 cm), width 49 inches (1.24 m), depth 17 3/4 inches (45.1 cm).
Additional Notes & Condition Report
6 1/2 inch loss to right side of molded cornice.
Age cracks and patches to side panels of upper section.
Some glazed panels replaced.
Interior with later staining.
Repair surrounding hinges.
Lock replaced, but functioning.
Cupboard doors reinforced, still with warpage.
Left cupboard door with split and age cracks.
Feet possibly replaced.
Old marks, scratches, scuffs and wear.
