. London: J. F. and C. Rivington, 1790. Gift inscription by playwright Tom Stoppard, with a signed postcard laid-in. 9th edition. Two volumes, contemporary calf, red lettering labels. 8 3/8 x 5 inches (22 x 13.5 cm); without title page to second volume as issued (the book often encountered in one volume). Hinges tender, rubbed, small losses to headcaps, contemporary ownership signatures as well as that of Stoppard, one endpaper halved, internally a very clean copy.
An interesting association.
