. London: David Bogue, 1881. First edition (one of 250 copies). Original publisher's vellum gilt (bound by Matthew Bell), gilt prune blossom design after Wilde within rectangular border to covers, gilt decorations and lettering to spine, top edge gilt, leather-backed slipcase and chemise. 7 3/8 x 5 (19 x 12 cm); (x), 236, (2) pp. Front cover a bit spotted, spine dulled, neat name in ink on endpaper, some offsetting to free endpapers else a bright copy internally .
Three editions, each of 250 copies, were published in 1881. This lacks the edition statement on the title which appears in the second and third editions. All three editions have the "may" for "maid" error on p. 136, stanza 2, line 6. Mason 304.
