Original tan cloth with red Guilt Edged Mystery insignia on upper cover, in the original pictorial dust jacket, with the $2.50 price. 7 1/4 x 5 inches (18.5 x 13 cm); 250 pp. Half-inch clean tear at head of front panel of jacket, a few tiny chips to the head of the spine, in all a very attractive copy.
Spillane's classic second novel, a major opus of the hard-boiled literature, featuring Mike Hammer. This is the Lackrtitz copy, sold at Christie's in 2003 for $1,900.
