China Private Issue Bank Note
Shu Cheng Private Bank (Qian Zhuang) 400 Cash note issued in the 10th year of Emperor Xianfeng, 1861, his last year of reign. This note as part of the bequest by Mrs. Law has been attached to a quality paper stock. There is a small piece missing at the lower right corner, with margins close at left, also a barely legible notation in the upper margin, with a notation of '40 cts' and more. Very seldom offered in any condition.

Mrs. Alga Law, wife of notable 19th century railroad magnate George Law (1843-1896), son of financier and collector George Law, an original owner of the SS Central America, its first name was the SS George Law. Reference no. 22 as part of the bequest to the New York Bar Association in 1935.
