... Paris: chez Jean-Baptiste Garnier, Imprimeur-Libraire ordinaire du roy, 1752. Full red morocco gilt, most likely by Dubuisson though without ticket (and this plaque not noted by Rahir), with the central arms of Marie Leszczynska, Queen of France, a fanfare design on the covers likely from a plaque modelled on the work of Padeloup, the spine with strapwork surrounding fleurs-de-lys, all edges gilt, endpapers a gilt paper of the period. 7 7/8 x 5 inches (20 x 12.5 cm); xlviii, 852 pp., with three engravings after Rubens. Very light wear, overall a very attractive example.
The household binding, of considerable magnificence, of Queen Marie of France, the wife of King Louis XV of France and grandmother to Louis XVI, Louis XVIII, and Charles X. Olivier 2507.
