Lot Details

Lot 1164
Boston Massachusetts Certificate of Exchange Dated 1767 Signed John Hancock
Historical Certificate of Exchange engraved by the Nathaniel Hurd who produced other bonds and documents including items for the Massachusetts Bay Colony such as Pine Tree bonds during the Revolution. This Certificate issued in the amount of 300 Pounds Sterling, payable to Mr. Samuel Abbott and charged to George Hayley Esqrs. Merchants in London. Dated Boston October 26th 1767 and boldly signed John Hancock as an official. A central horizontal crease which is separated in parts and a vertical fold barely detracts from this otherwise attractive document. Professionally mounted and framed, bearing a red seal of Walter R. Benjamin Autographs on the reverse.
