the cover and body appear to be in generally good condition; the underside of the cover has a network of extensive crazing, consistent with age; the exterior side of the cover is decorated with raised gilding, however, the decorative gilding on the body is not raised, likely indicating the cover is not original but is instead a later replacement/substitution; the gilt-metal finial on the cover appears to be a replacement; there is extensive wear and dulling to the gilding on the metal mounts, consistent with age, usage and handling; the main body is currently somewhat loose on its base and would benefit from tightening; there are some light superficial scratches to the painted scene, however, they are not of great consequence; some wear/rubbing to the gilding on the porcelain, consistent with age and handling; not blacklighted
