Each graphite pencil on paper laid to card
The first 8 1/8 x 6 1/2 inches (20.6 x 16.5 cm); the second
8 1/8 x 5 3/4 inches (20.6 x 14.1 cm)
Munkacsy painted Christ Before Pilate in 1881; three years later he followed this with a companion work, Golgotha. In 1896 he painted a third work, Ecce Homo to complete a trilogy of scenes of the Passion. Christ Before Pilate is now in the Deri Museum in Debrecen, Hungary.
