The hinged top with outset corners opening to a suede-lined surface with counter wells above a frieze drawer bearing a printed partial maker's label for Benjamin Crook: . . . / Mahogany Tables / Looking Glasses Chairs &c / Made & Sold by Benj. Crook / at ye George & White Lyon / on ye South Side of St. / Paul's Church Yard / LONDON. Height 28 1/2 inches (72.4 cm), width 33 inches (83.8 cm), depth 16 inches (40.7 cm).

The label is that of Benjamin Crook, joiner and cabinet-maker who had premises from 1732 to1748 at The George & Whyte Lion, St. Paul's Church Yard.
