Pair of Continental Neoclassical Painted and Parcel-Gilt Side Chairs
Early 19th century
Each pierced shaped backrest with military trophies of a bow, quiver of arrows and a standard, the other with a facses, spears and furled standards, each dipped overupholstered seat raised on splayed legs joined at the front by X-form stretchers. Height of backrest 35 1/2 inches (90.2 cm), width 20 inches (50.8 cm), height of seat 18 inches (45.8 cm), width 23 inches (58.4 cm), depth 17 inches (43.3 cm).
