George III Satinwood-Inlaid Mahogany Writing Table
Circa 1800
The leather-lined rectangular top with outset rounded corners above three frieze drawers on each side, raised on ring-turned tapering circular legs ending in casters. Height 30 inches (76.2 cm); width 55 3/4 inches (141 cm), depth 37 1/4 inches (94.6 cm).

This George III mahogany library table is a fine example of furniture design that exemplifies the change in taste from the late 18th century, with its use of satinwood inlay, to Regency pieces made in the early 19th century inlaid with ebony and exotic woods from India and other Asian countries.
