Tibetan Gilt-Bronze Figure of Tara
18th/19th Century
Seated in lalitasana on a double lotus throne, the left hand is raided in dharmachakra and the right hand is lowered in varadamudra, both holding the stem of lotus flowering at the shoulder, dressed in a draping dhoti and adorned in necklaces and earrings, with jewelry around the ankles and on the feet, the blue pigmented hair is pulled back in a high chignon behind a five-leaf diadem with coloring applied to the lips, hair and jewelry. Height 4 1/2 inches.
