Chinese Sancai Glazed Figure of a Bactrian Camel
Tang Dynasty
Standing four-square on a rectangular plinth, the head raised in a braying position with open mouth, the saddle bags with molded lion masks draped between the two humps, covered in a chestnut glaze with buff detailing, the saddle blanket in green, chestnut and buff. Height 23 1/2 inches.
The result of Oxford thermoluminescence test no. C201a77 is consistant with the dating of this lot.
