Chinese Lacquered and Gilt-Bronze Figure of an Acolyte
Late Ming-Early Qing Dynasty
Standing, the hands held at the chest in prayer, dressed in a long dhoti secured with a ribbon at the waist below a bulging belly covered in a bib, a scarf billowing over the shoulders, bracelets and a necklace, the face looking upwards and to the side with a nearly smiling expression beneath a shaved head with three small knots of hair gathered by red ribbons, the dhoti and scarf with gold lacquer, the body and face with gilding an red and black detailing. Height 11 inches.

Areas of lacquer loss and wear, overall general light gilt wear as to be expected, firing fault to one area of scarf approximately 1/4 inches long, upper back with a few small square bronze repairs next to a few very minor firing cracks, wood base with E & J Frankel sticker.
