Photograph album and gamebook. Western Africa: 1907-1914. Half reverse calf, later manuscript title label to spine. 12 3/4 x 8 inches; 120 gelatin silver prints, full-page watercolor drawing, 18 pen-and-ink sketches, various newsclippings and ads pasted in, with manuscript notes and game record. Binding a bit worn with a few gouges and stains, hinges reinforced, scattered offsetting and surface soiling to leaves, photographs toned.
A lovely record of a West African hunting trip at the turn of the last century, including photographs of the members of the party, landscape, and game bagged, as well as original drawings and entries by various contributors, along with a record of game. A unique item.
